Juan Cruz ESQUIVEL is a PhD in Sociology. He is a professor at University of Buenos Aires. Researcher at National Council of Scientific and Technical Research (CONICET), Argentina, and also the president of Association of Social Scientists of Religion of MERCOSUR – ACSRM – (2015–2018). He is a board member of the Research Committee – Sociology of Religion – of the International Sociological Association – ISA – (2018–2022). He is the director of several research projects at national and international level about Religion and Politics, relationship between State-Church in Latin America, Laicity and Secularization. He has authored more than 50 publications (scientific articles in international journals and book chapters) and books: Igreja, Estado e Política. Estudo comparado no Brasil e na Argentina (2013); Cuestión de educación (sexual), pujas y negociaciones político-religiosas en la Argentina democrática (2013) and Detrás de los muros: La Iglesia Católica en tiempos de Alfonsín y Menem (2004).
